28 May 2026 — The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military Y-8 transport aircraft landed at Artillery Battalion No. 368 in Kyaukhtu town in the Yaw region of Magway Region and evacuated 56 injured junta soldiers on 27 May.

During the aircraft’s landing operation, junta troops stationed inside Battalion No. 368 deployed security patrols and sentries around Yaw town, Paukgaung village, and Min Gyi village to secure the surrounding area, according to local sources.

After the aircraft departed, the troops returned to the battalion compound.

Local sources stated junta troops are currently positioned along the Kyaukhtu–Pauk road, where they continue conducting regular patrols and security checks. Troops stationed near Ngalun village have expanded their movements toward nearby villages and increased surveillance activities.

Meanwhile, a junta column of around 200 troops stationed in Kan Gyi village is constructing reinforced concrete bunkers and defensive trenches. Local sources said the troops appear to be strengthening defensive positions and preparing for possible military confrontations.

As military tensions continue to rise in the area, residents have been advised to avoid travelling along the Kyaukhtu–Pauk road whenever possible and to refrain from entering Kyaukhtu town unless necessary. Residents in Ngalun village and nearby communities have also been urged to reduce unnecessary movement.

People living in villages surrounding Kyaukhtu are being warned that military columns could enter the area at any time, and locals are encouraged to prepare evacuation plans in advance for their safety.

According to the current situation on the ground, residents are facing potential threats from military operations, airstrikes, and artillery attacks, and are being urged to remain alert at all times. – Reporting by Ben
