28 May 2026 – Local sources confirm the recovery and burial of four men – two civilian villagers and two Chin resistance fighters – allegedly captured and killed by State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military troops near Lungpi village on 27 May 2026.
The two civilians from Lungpi village had reportedly fled fighting around Falam town when they were apprehended.
Sources indicate the SSPC troops captured and then beheaded the two resistance fighters, who wore uniforms bearing Chin National Army (CNA) insignia. The fighters were confirmed members of the local defence group, though their specific unit remains unclear.
All four bodies were allegedly dumped in roadside drainage culverts before being recovered and interred by community elders and local officials.
This incident occurs amid the SSPC’s ongoing, massive offensive to recapture Falam town, which has been under the control of allied Chin resistance groups since April 2025.
Facing heavy ground resistance, the SSPC has relied on ‘inhumane and indiscriminate attacks’ against civilians as part of a ‘four cuts’ counterinsurgency strategy. – Reporting by Daniel
