5 June 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military jet fighters carried out five airstrikes on Auto Mountain and nearby Vankham Mountain between Hakha and Thantlang townships, Chin State, between 12:00 pm and 12:30 pm this afternoon.

Auto Mountain is considered a strategically significant position between Hakha and Thantlang towns and is currently under the control of local defence forces. According to resistance sources, the bombing caused no casualties or damage to resistance forces, although the full extent of the impact has not been independently verified.

A local defence source suggested the strikes may be part of preparations for a possible military offensive toward Thantlang town, describing them as an effort to clear or weaken routes before a ground operation. The source said the SSPC military may first rely on airstrikes and drone attacks before deploying ground troops.

The reports also noted that the SSPC military transported approximately 250 troops in four military vehicles from Hakha town to the Timit Hill area between Hakha and Thantlang towns on 3 June. Sources claimed that SSPC troops have been stockpiling food supplies, weapons, and ammunition there in preparation for operations toward Thantlang town.

Auto Mountain was captured by local defence groups on 8 December 2024, during the Jericho Operation, and has since remained under their control. As of the latest reports, SSPC military aircraft were still observed operating over the area. – Reporting by Daniel
