7 June 2026 — State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) troops reclaimed two key tactical positions on the Hakha-Thantlang road yesterday, following a violent two-day offensive characterized by extensive use of air and heavy artillery support.

According to frontline reports, the conflict began on 3 June when an SSPC military column—comprising approximately 250 personnel, four vehicles, and substantial munitions—departed the LIB 266 base in Hakha town.

The unit linked up with additional forces near the Timit Stream before advancing toward Thantlang town.

Resistance sources indicate that as the column met with stiff resistance, the SSPC escalated its tactical response, deploying fighter jets, drones, and heavy artillery.

This intense bombardment forced joint local resistance forces to withdraw from C3 Hill on the evening of 6 June. The loss of C3 Hill and the nearby Auto Hill marks a significant shift in the region’s territorial control, as both sites had been held by resistance forces since their capture during the 2024 ‘Jericho Column Operation.’

Casualty reports from the clashes remain unverified by independent sources, though resistance affiliates claim approximately 10 SSPC soldiers were killed in the fighting, with an unspecified number of others wounded.

The strategic reliance on air power seen in the Hakha-Thantlang corridor aligns with a broader, systemic SSPC strategy to disrupt resistance-held strongholds and regain territory throughout the state. – Reporting by Daniel
