SSPC transports dead, wounded soldiers to Kalay

18 April 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military transported casualties—including at least 10 estimated dead soldiers and wounded personnel—to Kalay town on the night of 17 April, following severe clashes with Chin resistance forces near Khuangli village, Falam township.

Four vehicles were used to evacuate the troops, reportedly passing through Parte village late that night, according to local sources.

The intense five-day engagement, which lasted from 13 to 17 April, saw the SSPC utilize air support. The fighting began on 13 April when Chin resistance forces launched an attack on a nearby SSPC military outpost, successfully seizing it the following day.

Renewed fighting erupted on 17 April as SSPC forces initiated a counteroffensive in an attempt to retake the position. Sources on the ground indicated that both sides sustained losses, though SSPC casualties were believed to be significant.

The heavy fighting near Khuangli is the latest instance of escalating conflict in Chin State, where the SSPC military has been advancing on areas like Falam and using airstrikes against villages and opposition facilities, resulting in civilian harm.

Local resistance groups remain active, continuing their operations and reporting casualties from recent offensives against the SSPC. The conflict continues despite the SSPC attempting to project normalcy, such as promoting the Thingyan Water Festival. – Reporting by Daniel
