19 June 2026 – The Government of Chinland issued a birthday message marking the 81st birthday of detained Myanmar democracy leader and former State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, calling for her immediate release from military detention.

In a statement released on 19 June, the Chinland Council and Chinland Government wished Aung San Suu Kyi good health and expressed hope that she would soon regain her freedom after more than five years in detention following the military takeover in February 2021.

The statement reaffirmed the Chinland Government’s commitment to working alongside revolutionary forces to end military rule, achieve lasting peace, and establish a genuine federal democratic union in Myanmar.

The Chinland Government described Aung San Suu Kyi as a trusted national leader whose contributions to democracy, human rights, peace, and federalism remain important to Myanmar’s future and the success of the Spring Revolution.

The statement also called on ASEAN and the international community to prioritize the unconditional release of Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners as part of efforts to resolve Myanmar’s political crisis peacefully.

The message was issued jointly with 18 revolutionary government and parliamentary bodies across Myanmar, including the National League for Democracy (NLD), the Chin Parliament, and the Chinland Government. – Reporting by Ben
