HAKHA, Chin State, 16 October 2025 – A coalition of Chin defence forces including the Chinland Defence Force – Hakha (CDF–Hakha) launched an attack on the Hakha Myoma Police Station in Hakha town at about 3 am this morning, rescuing 15 detainees.

The night attack saw intense exchanges of fire with SAC police forces. Reports indicate that at least six SAC policemen were killed in the confrontation, alongside one CDF member.

The operation by the Chinland Defence Force-Hakha together with allied defence groups made a night attack and exchanged fire with SAC’s police, reportedly resulting in the deaths of at least six SAC policemen and one CDF member.

Local sources confirm that the freed prisoners include two women and 13 men. At least seven detainees are believed to still be held within the police station.

In August 2025, SAC’s soldiers conducted daylight arrests, detaining over 50 youths in Hakha town as they returned home from church services.

In July 2024, the CDF–Hakha had also attacked the Hakha Central Police Station, freeing 62 detainees (49 men and 13 women).

Hakha town remains under the control of the SAC, recently named the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC), and serves as the base for SAC’s Light Infantry Battalion 266 on Mount Rung.

This latest development comes just days after a junta airstrike on 13 October targeted a school in Vanha village, about 30 miles from Hakha town, killing two students, an 8-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl, and injuring 21 others. – Reporting by Benjamin
