23 June 2026 — The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) carried out a series of airstrikes on areas near Mindat and Kanpetlet townships in Chin State on Tuesday afternoon.
Local sources reported that a fighter jet from Tada-U Air Base carried out an airstrike on a location east of Mindat township, dropping two bombs at approximately 8:50 pm.
Between 2:00 pm and 2:23 pm, a Y-12 bomber aircraft from Tada-U Air Base conducted eight bombing runs over eastern areas of Mindat township, dropping more than 30 bombs. Local sources said the aircraft released clusters of four bombs during each run.
Shortly afterwards, at approximately 2:35 pm, 2:40 pm, 2:42 pm, and 2:46 pm, two jet fighter aircraft from Naypyidaw’s Aela Air Base carried out four separate airstrikes near Mindat town, dropping a total of eight bombs.
The attacks extended to Kanpetlet township, where a Y-12 bomber aircraft conducted six bombing runs between 2:26 pm and 3:00 pm, dropping more than 20 bombs near the town.
At around 3:00 pm, two jet fighters from Tada-U Air Base also launched four bombing runs on a location east of Kanpetlet, dropping an additional eight bombs.
No casualties or damage had been confirmed at the time of reporting, and local sources said assessments were still ongoing.
The latest airstrikes come amid escalating military operations in southern Chin State, where Mindat and Kanpetlet townships have faced frequent aerial attacks and ongoing clashes in recent months. – Reporting by Ben
