This operation marks the final return effort organized by Falam Pawlpi Falam (FPF), which has been facilitating the transport of displaced residents since 20 May.
Future return initiatives are expected to be coordinated by the Christian Minister Fellowship.
The mission, which cost approximately 7 million Kyats, was made possible through the support of overseas Chin communities and local churches. Mr. Ni Luai, a leader of the Chin Community, USA, contributed 4.5 million Kyats to the effort, while local vehicle owners further assisted by providing fuel, free transport, and an additional 500,000 Kyats in direct donations.
This wave of repatriation aligns with the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military’s ongoing efforts to consolidate control over Falam town. Reports indicate an active military presence in the area, characterized by the landing of SSPC military transport helicopters in Falam town and neighboring Tedim town.
As part of these stabilization efforts, the SSPC has been actively pushing for the resumption of public life in Falam. Local sources confirm that hundreds of government employees and their families have already resettled in the town, and government offices and schools began reopening their doors in early June. – Reporting by Daniel
