29 April 2026 — The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) airstrike was carried out in Kyindwe town, Kanpetlet township in Chin State, on the morning of 29 April, according to local sources.

Initial reports indicated that at around 10:30 am, a YAK-130 jet fighter, reportedly taking off from Taungoo Air Base, conducted an aerial attack on a location within the town.

Field sources reported that eight civilians were killed while repairing a bridge over the Mung stream. The airstrike also caused additional civilian injuries and casualties, although the exact number remains unconfirmed.

Earlier the same morning, at around 9:53 am, a Y-8 military transport aircraft was observed conducting repeated aerial supply drops over Kyaukhtu airfield. Witnesses reported that the aircraft circled above the area before dropping packages by parachute on at least four occasions. The contents of the supplies have not been officially confirmed.

Kyindwe town was previously seized from the SSPC military by the Chin Brotherhood (CB) and the Arakan Army (AA) on 29 April 2024, underscoring its strategic importance in the southern part of Chin State.

In a related development, airstrikes have also continued in northern areas of Chin State. On the night of 28 April, at around 11:00 pm, the military carried out three aerial bombardments on Khuanglung village in Falam township.

The recent escalation in aerial operations has heightened concerns over civilian safety across conflict-affected areas of Chin State. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant amid fears of further attacks. – Reporting by Ben
