30 May 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military launched a drone attack on New Haimual village, Tedim township, Chin State, near the India-Myanmar border.
On the morning of 29 May at approximately 9:20 am, suicide drones targeted the village hospital but instead exploded in the village center. No casualties were reported.
A resident told The Zoland Post that multiple drones were involved in the attack, although the exact number remains unknown. While no one was harmed, villagers began fleeing to safer locations on the same day amid fears of further attacks.
New Haimual lies close to the border and is located about 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) from Zokhawthar in Mizoram’s Champhai District, India.
Local reports indicate that SSPC forces, after regaining control of Falam and Tonzang towns, have been preparing operations aimed at reasserting control over strategic border areas, including the Tio River corridor and Rihkhawdar, home to Myanmar’s Border Trade Station No. 2 with India.
Residents have also voiced concerns that the SSPC military may launch additional offensives into border regions in early July.
Local observers said civilians and resistance forces are closely monitoring the SSPC’s movements, noting that its current tactics have become increasingly difficult to predict, prompting communities along the border to remain vigilant. – Reporting by Daniel
