29 May 2026 — The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) carried out airstrikes in the Kyaukhtu area, Saw township, Magway Region yesterday.
Initial local reports indicated that airstrikes were conducted near the Kyaukhtu area between 10:55 pm and 11:18 pm. Local sources said a fighter jet carried out two sorties from Tada-U Air Base, while two additional aircraft conducted two rounds of air operations each.
It was further reported that Y-12 bombers carried out repeated bombing runs, dropping bombs in five-bomb formations, with at least three rounds of strikes observed during the night.
As a result of the airstrikes, three civilian-owned vehicles, six motorcycles, and approximately 30 drums of fuel were damaged, according to local sources.
Residents were urged to remain highly alert due to continued aerial activity in the area.
In a separate development, around 300 SAC and Pyusawhtee (pro-SSPC militia) troops reportedly moved out from Kyaukhtu AMT 368 the previous day. The column is currently located near Kyauksit and Kanchaung villages.
Some troops are also reported to remain in Lay Gyi Inn village. It remains unclear whether the column will advance toward Saw township, move toward Chin State, or remain in its current position.
Local communities have been strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and avoid any contact with moving military columns. – Reporting by Ben
