8 December 2025 – A Chin Christian ministry worker in Yangon, Mr. Pau Muan Lian, has been arrested by the SSPC (State Security and Peace Commission) junta and sent to a military training camp, according to his family.

The 23-year-old, who holds a ministry worker identification card from the Myanmar AG Evangelical Churches, Yangon, went missing on 30 November after leaving the Pansodan bus stop.

His family said all communication with him was lost from that evening.

After more than a week with no information, he called his family at around 5 am today and informed them that he had been taken by the SSPC’s military personnel from the Thamechaung junction area, between Yuzana and South Dagon in Yangon, and transported for military training.

According to his older sister, who posted the update on social media, Mr. Pau told the family:

“I could not refuse so I had to follow them [SSPC military]. I am now in a place called Yae Ni town. Training will start soon. Please don’t worry too much. I am fine, and I miss all of you. Let’s stay connected in prayer.”

Family members believe he is now being held at a military training camp in Yae Ni town, Bago Region.

During the week he was missing, his relatives posted multiple missing-person notices online and appealed for public assistance, expressing serious concern for his safety.

While the phone call has provided some clarity, the family remains worried about his well-being and the circumstances of his forced conscription. – Reporting by Benjamin
