Two more COVID-19 cases confirmed in Hakha

14 October 2020 – A truck driver and his assistant plying from Pakokku, Magway Region to Hakha, Chin State tested positive for COVID-19, the Hakha Township committee for prevention and response of COVID-19 announced today.

The committee said that the two men had travelled along the Gangaw-Hakha road and arrived at the entrance to Hakha last Friday, where their swabs were taken using the rapid diagnostic test kit.

The Chin State Health Department said that they had been travelling along the Yangon-Myawaddy-Hakha road, adding: “They were taken straight to an isolation unit of the Hakha General Hospital once their swab test results were confirmed.”

Currently, there are five COVID-19 patients being isolated in Hakha. Two of them are returnees from Yangon who had been quarantined since their arrivals in Hakha before the confirmation of their swab test results.

Out of the 3,536 swab tests taken in Chin State between 23 March and 13 October this year, 50 have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the data shared today by the Chin State Health Department. – Reporting by Cer Len Ci and Naomy VT Chin with Thawng Zel Thang.
