1 June 2026 – Troops of the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) from Artillery Battalion 368, based in Kyaukhtu town, Magway Region, entered Saw town on 31 May after advancing along the Kangyi road since 28 May.
According to local sources, a Y-8 military transport aircraft from Meiktila Air Base arrived over Saw town and nearby areas at around 11:00 am on 1 June, where SSPC troops were stationed.
The aircraft dropped about 15 military supply packages by parachute, releasing them in groups of two, three, and four.

The military column departed Kyaukhtu on 28 May and reached Saw town on 31 May. Since entering the town, SSPC troops have arrested civilians, looted homes and shops, and occupied some residential buildings as temporary bases.
Local sources reported that SSPC soldiers broke into houses, seized personal belongings, and took goods from roadside shops, and, including both men and women, were among those detained.
Due to the ongoing military presence and security concerns, most residents of Saw town have fled to safer locations.
Local sources also reported that some criminal groups have taken advantage of the mass displacement of residents by breaking into abandoned homes and carrying out robberies. – Reporting by Ben
