29 May 2026 — The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) carried out airstrikes in Paletwa township, Chin State yesterday.

The incident occurred in the morning of 28 May, when jet fighters conducted airstrikes between Waryu and Kayak villages in the Samee (Sami) area of Paletwa township.

Before the airstrike, SSPC military forces carried out aerial surveillance using a Y-12 aircraft, which flew over the area five times until around 11:30 am. The jet fighters then proceeded with the strike operation.

Local sources reported that one civilian was killed on the spot, while two others sustained serious injuries and were transported to the Samee area for medical treatment.

Residents stated that the targeted area is a route commonly used by civilians and suggested that the strike may have been based on detailed intelligence regarding local movements.

Concerns have been rising among local communities over the risk of further airstrikes, as insecurity along travel routes continues to increase.

Locals also noted the lack of adequate and fully constructed bomb shelters in the area, warning that this could lead to higher casualties if additional airstrikes occur in the future. – Reporting by Ben
