5 June 2026 – A clash broke out near Laitui village, Tedim township, Chin State, on the morning of 4 June, causing fear among residents, disrupting schools, and forcing some villagers to flee.
The fighting began around 7:30 am near the fire station between Laitui and Lentang villages along the road to Rihkhawdar on the India-Myanmar border.
Local and resistance-affiliated sources identified the parties involved as Chinland Defence Force-Hualngoram (CDF-Hualngoram) and the Zomi Revolutionary Army-Eastern Command (ZRA-EC).
According to military sources cited in local media, the clash occurred when about 15 ZRA-EC members entered the Laitui-Lentang area, leading to an armed confrontation with CDF-Hualngoram forces.
The exchange of gunfire took place close to residential areas, causing widespread alarm. Residents reported that people largely stayed indoors, some sought safety elsewhere, and students either did not attend school or were sent home because of security concerns.
The local media outlets reported that the ZRA/ZRA-EC side suffered losses and subsequently withdrew, although these claims have not been independently verified.
The incident occurred amid ongoing tensions in Chin State. Some local observers believe the movement of ZRA-EC forces in the area may be connected to SSPC’s efforts to advance toward Rihkhawdar, though no evidence has been presented to confirm this assessment.
No official statements from the groups involved had been reported at the time of publication, and the full extent of casualties or damage remains unknown. – Reporting by Daniel
