11 May 2026 – The Chinland Defense Force-Tonzang (CDF-Tonzang) has announced the emergency and indefinite closure of the Tonzang-Tedim Road, effective today.

The restriction, which prohibits all civilian movement, was implemented due to escalating armed clashes and worsening security conditions across Tonzang township.

The CDF-Tonzang stated the measure is precautionary, aimed at protecting residents from the dangers of the ongoing fighting.

The group urged people in Tonzang town and surrounding eastern and western villages to avoid all non-essential travel and strictly comply with the new security directives.

The announcement comes amidst intense fighting in the region. Recent reports from Chin State, including neighboring Tedim township—which the closed road connects to—have documented deadly State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) drone strikes targeting resistance forces.

The escalating violence in Chin State has led to severe humanitarian impacts, forcing thousands of civilians to flee their homes.

Furthermore, Tonzang and Tedim townships have been among those in Chin State where internet and phone lines have been cut off for years, highlighting the persistent state of heightened military tensions and communication challenges. – Reporting by Daniel
