15 April 2026 — Fighting between State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) troops and local defence groups has intensified in parts of Falam and Tedim townships. This escalation follows the deployment of a military convoy from Sagaing Region.
The conflict in Chin State continues to be marked by military aggression, including recent aerial bombardments by the SSPC in Falam and Mindat towns that have caused casualties and destroyed civilian homes.
Regarding the troop movement, a convoy of 16 SSPC military trucks was observed leaving Kalay town. Six of these trucks reached Taingen village, Tedim township, on 13 April, along the Kalay-Tedim-Falam road, while the location of the remaining 10 vehicles is currently unknown.
The wider humanitarian context shows growing anxiety over forced military conscription, with at least 15 youths detained by the SSPC in Kalay town. Furthermore, the SSPC is reported to have deliberately torched more than a dozen residential houses and farm huts in Tuphei village.
Amid the instability, air travel between Kalay and Yangon has seen a spike, with airfares reaching record highs. – Reporting by Daniel
