Ex-Political Prisoner Chin MP Dies at Age 70

29 March 2010: A prominent Chin politician and a Member of Parliament elect and former political prisoner died yesterday at the age of 70 in Kalaymyo. He was admitted to Kalay hospital after suffering from a stroke on February 16.

Former Prisoners of Conscience Call for Repeal of Unjust Laws

23 March 2010: The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), an exiled dissident organization assisting and advocating on behalf of prisoners of conscience in Burma today repeats its call on the junta to unconditionally release all political prisoners and immediately repeal unjust laws that criminalize legitimate political activity, including the new electoral laws that bar dissidents.

19 March 2010: Exiled Members of Parliament Elect from the 1990 elections in Burma have vowed to continue the fight for democracy, saying they have a responsibility to carry out the wills of the people as expressed in the 1990 elections.

Party Registration Commences

18 March 2010: State-owned broadcast media today announced that political parties wishing to participate in the junta-planned elections this year can now tender their registration with the Union Election Commission in the administrative capital Naypyidaw.
