4 June 2026 — A junta column comprising approximately 170 troops, believed to be primarily drawn from the Defence Equipment Factory (Ka Pa Sa-25), re-entered Saw town in the Magway Region on 2 June. The column, which had reportedly advanced from Kanpetlet township in Chin State, has since established positions throughout the town.

According to local sources, the SSPC forces are currently deployed in multiple groups concentrated in Kyet Sar Ward and along the main asphalt road. The incursion has been accompanied by widespread reports of civilian homes being broken into and looted.

Local residents have documented a pattern of property theft as troops divide into smaller units and occupy various sections of the town.

This escalation in Saw follows a period of heightened military volatility in the border regions between Magway and Chin State. Resistance activities and junta offensives in these areas have frequently led to civilian displacement and significant security concerns.

Recent reports from across the region indicate that the junta’s presence remains a critical threat, with increased risks of ground operations, indiscriminate artillery fire, and potential airstrikes.

Residents of Saw and surrounding villages are urged to remain extremely cautious and vigilant. The humanitarian situation in the region is precarious, and civilians are advised to stay alert to security updates and avoid areas of known military deployment. – Reporting by Ben
