30 June 2026 – Two personnel from the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military’s Light Infantry Division 77 (LID 77), stationed in Hakha township, have officially defected to the Chinland Defense Force-Hakha (CDF-Hakha).

The soldiers, who reportedly abandoned their posts in protest against the military leadership of Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, have joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM).

The defection comes amid a period of intense instability in Myanmar’s Chin State, where the SSPC has recently ramped up military operations.

According to the CDF-Hakha, the defecting soldiers are currently receiving protection, with the organization assuming responsibility for their personal safety, security, and safe passage to their desired destinations.

“Those who wish to evacuate should also cooperate with one another and with the public so that everyone can evacuate safely,” the CDF-Hakha supporting group stated, urging continued public solidarity in facilitating similar exits for those seeking to leave the military regime. – Reporting by Daniel
