5 June 2026 — State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military columns have raided villages in Saw township, Magway Region, and forcibly taken food supplies and valuables from residents, according to local sources.
According to a local source, SSPC troops entered Taung Htet, Yae Shin, and Pyin Lel villages on 2 June, conducting extensive searches of civilian homes.
During the searches, they confiscated all valuable items found inside houses, along with rice and other food supplies, and transported them using four trucks.
Local reports indicate that nearly 500 baskets of rice were forcibly taken from Taung Htet, Yae Shin, and Pyin Lel villages. The military column is also reported to remain positioned in forested areas along the main road.
In addition, SSPC forces deployed in Saw town have reportedly spread out and occupied areas around the town, including the old airport area, Min Lel village, and surrounding areas of Yin Khao village. The unit stationed near Yin Khao village is said to consist of around 20 soldiers.
As tensions remain high in the area, residents in Saw township and nearby villages have been advised to exercise extreme caution and remain alert to the risks of military patrols, artillery fire, and airstrikes. – Reporting by Ben
