14 November 2025 — A column of the Myanmar military, known as the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC), suffered a fatal mine attack on Wednesday after arriving in Taingen village, located in the Siyin area of Tedim township, Chin State.
The incident resulted in the deaths of at least seven SSPC soldiers.
“The soldiers were preparing to advance using vehicles but decided to proceed on foot while waiting. When they reached the position where the mine had been placed, we detonated it. We recovered approximately seven bodies,” a frontline source familiar with the operation told The Voice of Chinland.
This marks the second such mine attack in the vicinity in recent days. On 7 November, a different SSPC column entering Taingen village was also targeted by local defence forces, an attack that reportedly killed seven junta soldiers and injured over 20.
Taingen village, situated along the Kalay-Tedim road, has become a major flashpoint in an offensive launched by the military junta’s forces since late October. The offensive is being conducted by two main columns: one advancing from Kalay town in Sagaing Region and another from Tedim town.
The column advancing from Tedim town, estimated to comprise around 400 soldiers, has faced continuous resistance from local defence forces between Tedim town and Taingen village. Despite the clashes, this column successfully entered Taingen village on 9 November.
In contrast, the column advancing from Kalay town has been stalled due to persistent attacks by local defence forces and remains stationed in Mualpi village, which lies between Kalay and Taingen. – Reporting by Daniel
