12 November 2025 – A severe outbreak of diarrhea has infected at least 72 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Paletwa township, Chin State, marking a sharp increase from the approximately 20 cases reported just yesterday.
Local community leaders informed the Chinland Guardian that the outbreak is concentrated in two separate locations near the India-Myanmar border, with 54 infections in one area and 18 in the other.
Tragically, the outbreak has claimed the lives of six individuals. The latest fatality, a 12-year-old boy, died this morning.
“Emergency medical assistance is critically and urgently required. Although aid has been provided by some teams, it is currently insufficient to cover all patients,” said a community leader.
The leader emphasized the immediate need for additional non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to arrange and deliver comprehensive emergency medical support.
The affected areas are currently under a temporary lockdown imposed by the local administration, which is restricting access to all outsiders. – Reporting by Daniel
