11 April 2026 – State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) troops deliberately burned at least 14 residential houses and at least five farm storage huts during an incursion into Tuphei village, Falam township.
This attack marks a continuation of a violent pattern of abuses by the SSPC across Chin State, which has recently seen intense fighting and significant military setbacks for the commission.
The destruction in Tuphei follows a series of similar atrocities in the region. In February 2026, SSPC forces burned homes in Tuphei and Rawnzaam villages, and torched civilian residences and a church in Farso village.
Reports from 16 March also detailed the burning of two homes in Parte village and the looting of property, livestock, and cash in Lati village, where the military also deployed drone strikes.
In the latest incident on 11 April, a farm hut belonging to Mr. Khua Van Nuai Thang in the Rawnzaam area was set ablaze at approximately 6:00 am after a soldier had stayed there overnight. Such actions highlight the SSPC’s reliance on arson and indiscriminate attacks—including air and drone strikes on schools and IDP supply vehicles—as their ground offensive in Falam township stalls against local defense forces. – Reporting by Daniel
