13 May 2026 – The Hualngoram Peoples Organization/Chinland Defence Force-Hualngoram (HPO/CDF-Hualngoram) has distributed more than 35.2 million kyats in humanitarian aid to families in Khawpuichhip village, Falam township, Chin State.
The aid follows a devastating military airstrike on May 1 by forces of the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC).
The jet fighter bombing attack on the village killed seven civilians, including six children, injured 12 others, and damaged approximately 24 homes, according to local sources.
This assistance, marking the first round of support, was facilitated by the Hualngoram Relief Committee (HRC), established by HPO/CDF-Hualngoram in coordination with local communities.
The group provided 200,000 kyats in aid to the family of each person killed, and covered transportation and medical treatment costs for the injured receiving local care.
Beyond the financial aid, over 100 volunteers from nearby villages, including Thingchang, Surbung, Siallam, Chawnghoih, and Dawihkhel, participated in cleanup and reconstruction efforts in Khawpuichhip village on 7 May.
The attack is part of an escalating conflict in Chin State. Recent major offensives by the SSPC have caused mass civilian displacement in areas like Tonzang and Tedim. – Reporting by Daniel
