UFC Flyweight Champion Joshua Van receives hero’s welcome in Mizoram

29 May 2026 — UFC Flyweight World Champion and Chin fighter Joshua Van arrived in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram State, India today.

After attending the 25th Silver Jubilee celebration of the Chin Refugee Committee (CRC) in Malaysia, the internationally renowned Chin fighter travelled via New Delhi and landed at Lengpui Airport in Aizawl at around 2:00 pm local time.

Joshua Van received a warm welcome at the airport from members of the Mizoram State Legislative Assembly, officials from the Mizoram Mixed Martial Arts Association (MISMA), Chin organizations, and hundreds of Mizo supporters and well-wishers.

Following his arrival, Joshua Van visited the Sihhmui refugee camp in Aizawl District, where many refugees from Chin State have been sheltering since the military coup in Myanmar in 2021. Residents and community leaders warmly welcomed the UFC champion during his visit.

On the evening of 30 May, Joshua Van will attend the MISMA Fight Night event as a special guest. The event is jointly organised by Zonet Television and the Mizoram Mixed Martial Arts Association and will be held at R. Dengthuama Hall in Aizawl.

Joshua Van recently defended his UFC Flyweight Championship title at UFC 328 on 10 May, defeating Japanese fighter Tatsuro Taira by knockout. – Reporting by Ben
