6 February 2026 – Residents of Tuisau village in Tedim township, Chin State, blocked a public road yesterday in protest after an unidentified armed group held a meeting with local opium cultivators, according to a local media report.

The demonstration, which began at 3:30 pm and ended at 7:00 pm on 5 February, completely halted traffic, an eyewitness told Chinland Channel.

“The incident took place around Tuisau village where there are opium fields and cultivation. An armed group called a meeting and spoke with those cultivating opium. Dissatisfied with this, Tuisau villagers blocked the road in protest,” the eyewitness stated.

Demonstrators vowed to keep the road closed until the cultivators who attended the meeting returned, though their current status is unknown.

The village is situated in the Siyin region, an area under the control of the Chinland Defence Force-Civic Defence Militia-Siyin (CDF-CDM Siyin). While the armed group that met with the cultivators is reportedly the People’s Defence Force-Zoland (PDF-Zoland), Chinland Channel has not independently confirmed this information.

CDF-CDM Siyin had previously announced a plan in late 2024 to systematically eliminate opium cultivation within its controlled territories over a three-year period. – Reporting by Daniel
