Land sales prohibited in Rihkhawdar for urban planning

6 February 2026 – The Hualngoram Peoples Organization (HPO) has temporarily banned the sale and purchase of land in Rihkhawdar town, Chin State, according to its statement issued today.

This directive comes as the organization prepares to implement a new urban planning project in the strategically important border trade hub.

The prohibition applies to all land within Rihkhawdar, with the exception of existing residential properties in Ward-1 and Ward-2.

Furthermore, the CDF-Hualngoram/HPO has asserted that all land previously controlled by the former government now falls under the authority of the HPO. Individuals attempting to treat these properties as private land will face significant penalties and punitive action.

This order is immediately effective and will remain in place until formally rescinded by the organization. Rihkhawdar is strategically important as it hosts the India-Myanmar border trade station. – Reported by Daniel
