COVID-19: Cases increase in Chin State

23 November 2020 – Chin State has seen a continuation of COVID-19 pandemic with a total of eight confirmed cases from 18 November. Seven individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 last Thursday are being taken care of in separate facilities in three towns, Chin State and one patient was found in Tedim on 18 November.

The Information and Public Relations Department in Matupi announced that one returnee from Yangon who had been kept in quarantine tested positive for COVID-19 last Thursday and she is being kept in an isolation unit of the Matupi General Hospital.

In addition, one who had arrived from Kalay to Falam to transport cement and bricks yesterday tested positive and was sent to Falam General Hospital.

Similarly, one patient from Hakha is believed to have been infected was quarantined at Government Technical Institute upon her arrival from Yangon and is being taken care of at Department of Traditional Medicine, Hakha.

Four new cases were confirmed with 3 males and 1 female in conflict-affected Paletwa town. The quartet were a group for students who were studying in Yangon.

They were quarantined in Sami for three days when they arrived from Yangon and continued their journey to Paletwa. Upon their arrival in Paletwa, they tested positive.

One from Tedim who tested positive for COVID-19 on 18 November is being isolated at the Tedim General Hospital with another two patients. – Reporting by Cer Len Ci and Naomy VT Chin.
