6 February 2026 — The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) junta carried out an airstrike on a former military base site in Matupi town, Chin State, which is currently under the control of the Chin Brotherhood (CB).
The attack took place on 5 February at around 12:00 noon, when a jet fighter reportedly launched from Tada-U Air Base, flew over Matupi and dropped two bombs.
The strike targeted a former hilltop position of Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 304, where junta forces had previously been stationed. No casualties were reported, and the extent of damage remains under assessment.
Matupi town was fully recaptured from SSPC’s control on 29 June 2024 by allied resistance forces, including the Chin Brotherhood (CB) and the Arakan Army (ULA/AA). Since losing control of the town, the SSPC has repeatedly carried out airstrikes against its former military installations in the area. – Reporting by Ben
