11 March 2026 – Two police sergeants serving under the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) were critically injured in a shooting incident in Hakha town this morning.

According to local sources, the attack occurred at around 9:00 am in Pyidawtha Ward near the Ayeyarwady Bank branch in the Chin State capital. The officers were reportedly conducting security checks and questioning civilians when they were targeted.

The Chinland Defence Force-Hakha (CDF-Hakha) is believed to have carried out the attack. During the incident, two SSPC police sergeants—identified as Mr. Soe Min Naing and Mr. Nay Kyaw Khine—were struck by gunfire and sustained critical injuries, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Following the shooting, SSPC security forces increased their presence across Hakha town, deploying personnel at major road junctions and checkpoints throughout the town.

Later in the early afternoon, SSPC personnel detained at least four males at the six-junction checkpoint. Further confirmation regarding the specifics of the arrests and detentions is still pending.

Residents say security personnel have been carrying out frequent stop-and-search operations in recent weeks, particularly targeting pedestrians. Local sources allege that some civilians have also been forced to pay large sums of money at these checkpoints.

The incident highlights the continuing tensions and insecurity in Chin State, where clashes and targeted attacks involving resistance groups and security forces have persisted since the military takeover in the 2021 Myanmar coup d’état.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the attack or the condition of the injured officers. – Reporting by Daniel
