12 December 2025 — The Myanmar State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) launched a series of airstrikes on Matupi town, Chin State, today, marking a significant escalation in its regional operations.

The attacks commenced in the early afternoon, with two jet fighters, reportedly from Magway Air Base, executing three bombing runs in quick succession at 12:04 pm, 12:09 pm, and 12:15 pm, according to local sources.

A military transport aircraft followed with a strike at 12:21 pm. Residents reported hearing ‘loud, repeated explosions’ that triggered widespread panic throughout the town.

Aerial activity intensified again in the afternoon. At approximately 3:11 pm, a jet fighter, believed to be operating from Tada-U Air Base, conducted two more strikes within the town limits. A second jet fighter was subsequently observed circling to the west before carrying out another attack on the same area at 3:32 pm.

The attacks come after days of heightened aerial activities, troop reinforcements, and deployments across northern Chin State and parts of Sagaing and Magway Regions.

In October, the SSPC launched airstrikes several times on Matupi township.

While information on damage and casualties remains unconfirmed, the military action signals increased pressure on local communities, compelling many residents to seek safety. – Reporting by Ben
