Fire destroys six houses in Mindat

17 April 2015 — A fire broke out in the center of Mindat town, Chin State at about 11pm last night, ravaging six houses where nine families lived.

The scenes of destruction include a house owned by Ning Naing, Chin minister of Development Affairs and Daw Mya Kyi’s grocery store, both in Sanpya ward.

An eye-witness said that a fire engine got to the scene about 10 minutes after the blaze had started but as it got bigger and could not be put out, it spread to other houses.

No detailed information has emerged as to how the fire started.

A Mindat resident told the Chinland Guardian that the victim families were temporarily staying with relatives.

There are no casualties reported.#
