Chin State to host third ethnic media conference

05 March 2014: The second ethnic media conference taking place in Taunggyi, Shan State has unanimously agreed with a proposal to hold the next event in Hakha, Chin State.

Isaac Kyaw Htun Hla, who represents the Khumi Media Group at the conference, said that Hakha got a 100 percent vote over Hpa-An and Myitkyina and that the Chin capital will host the third ethnic media conference in 2015.

Salai Mang, Chief Executive Officer of the Chin World Media, a weekly newspaper printed in Burmese, submitted the proposal on behalf of the nine Chin media agencies participating in the 4-6 March conference.

More than 300 people including Chief Minister of Shan State Sao Aung Myat and representatives of 40 ethnic media groups are attending the Taunggyi event.

The first ethnic media conference was held in Moulmein, now known as Mawlamyine, in Mon State in April last year.#
