Grade 9 Chin Student Girl on Japan Tour

05 December 2012: Mai Thian Pek Cang, a high school student from Falam, Chin State is in Japan as one of the 28-member student delegation of Burma.

The 9th Standard Chin student of the No. 2 Basic Education High School in Falam town will represent Chin State during their 12-day study trip to Japan, according to the Chin World Media.

Salai Tuak Sang, Mai Thian Pek Cang’s teacher, said she qualified for the requirements to join this trip arranged under the program of the Ministry of Education.

“The participant must be over 15 age of years, have a basic understanding of English and must be a good student in class,” added her teacher.

Each student is assigned to make their own reflections by writing about the aftermath and recovery situation of earthquake-hit areas of Japan.

Many comments have been made online, congratulating Mai Thian Pek Cang for her efforts and successful participation in Burma’s delegation to one of the most developed countries in the world.

“It’s so nice to hear that Mai Thian Pek will be representing the Chin in such a high profile trip!” said one of the Chin leaders.

Mai Thian Pek Cang, daughter of Pu Tai Thul Lo, is originally from Khuangli village in Falam Township of Chin State.
