17 July 2011: A buffalo supposedly set loose accidentally by a butcher ran amok along the main road in Hakha town, Chin State, injuring four local pedestrians at different locations yesterday.

One of the injured, a tenth standard student girl from a private boarding school is said to be in critical condition at hospital in Hakha.

A Hakha resident told Chinland Guardian that the buffalo reportedly got loose from its reins while being taken to the butcher market in the middle of the town.

“We have heard that four people including a 68-year-old from Thantlang town are injured and being treated at the hospital,” added the local who has just returned from the Hakha hospital.

As of today, no butchers from the Hakha market have claimed to be the owner of the animal, according to sources.

The animal continuously going on the rampage was later shot and killed by the local police in Hakha yesterday.

An investigation is being conducted to find out who is responsible for the accident.
