7 May 2026 – Nearly 7,000 civilians from around 10 villages in southern Pauk township, Magway Region, have been forced to flee their homes due to an ongoing offensive by the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC), according to local sources.

The SSPC military column, reportedly consisting of around 500 troops, began advancing from Defence Equipment Factory (KaPaSa) 22 near the border of Pauk and Seikphyu townships on 1 May and is moving toward KaPaSa 24 through southern Pauk township.

Local sources said the SSPC column had reached the central part of Pauk township near Tei Pin Kan village, where clashes with resistance forces were continuing at the time of reporting.

As fighting intensified, residents from villages along the Pathein–Monywa road were forced to flee to safer locations.

Resistance sources also reported that several SSPC soldiers had defected and joined resistance forces, although the exact number could not yet be independently confirmed.

On 30 April, resistance forces reportedly carried out a landmine attack on an SSPC scouting unit, killing eight soldiers and injuring several others, according to local sources. – Reporting by Ben
