25 May 2026 – The Network for Chin Community Development (NCCD), an organization focused on local development and providing essential assistance to Chin communities, has launched new Community Development (CD) projects and conducted a seed awareness workshop in early May 2026 in Tedim township.

Previously, NCCD has been active in humanitarian aid, distributing essential food supplies like rice, cooking oil, and salt to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees across various townships in Chin State and in Mizoram, India.

The new CD initiatives have started in Dolluang and Thangsan villages. These community-led programs aim to strengthen local capacity and cohesion for long-term development and well-being.

As part of these efforts, the seed awareness workshop served as a vital platform for local villagers. They discussed the pros and cons of traditionally preserved indigenous seeds versus commercially produced seeds, emphasizing local resilience and sustainability in a challenging environment.

NCCD’s work is critical in the escalating crisis in Chin State, which has seen ongoing conflict, military actions by State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) troops, and widespread internal displacement.

Established in 1995, the Network for Chin Community Development (NCCD) is a community-based organization operating along the Indo-Myanmar border.

The group centers its efforts on local development, grassroots empowerment, and land rights throughout Chin State, Myanmar, and adjacent border areas. Additionally, NCCD provides humanitarian relief to vulnerable and displaced populations within these regions. – Reporting by Daniel
