19 May 2026 – The Hakha Township Public Healthcare & IDPs Management Committee has begun distributing clothing donations to internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have sought refuge in Hakha town due to ongoing conflict.
The clothing items, which were donated by local churches throughout the town, are available for collection at the committee’s office from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
A committee member informed the Chinland Guardian that they initiated the distribution by first contacting community leaders from 13 villages recently impacted by the conflict to inform displaced residents.
The committee noted that the majority of recipients are displaced people staying outside more established IDP camps, often living in temporary shelters or with host families and local churches. Fewer IDPs from established camps came, as they typically have existing support systems.
The committee confirmed that anyone in urgent need of clothing is welcome to collect items freely without restrictions.
Furthermore, arrangements have been made for those struggling to find accommodation or temporary shelter to stay at the Chin Christian University (CCU) building being used as an IDPs Camp. – Reporting by Daniel
