18 May 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) delivered food supplies and ammunition by Y-12 aircraft in the morning today to support their troops advancing toward Kanpetlet township in Chin State.
Initial local reports indicated that a Y-12 aircraft dropped around nine supply packages for the advancing troops. Sources also said the aircraft had repeatedly carried out airstrikes along the route in recent days.
The SSPC military column began moving from Saw town on 16 May and had reached the area near Mile-6, close to Kanpetlet town, by 18 May.
According to local sources, the SSPC junta has been preparing military operations since late April in an apparent attempt to retake Kanpetlet and Mindat towns in Chin State, which were captured by revolutionary joint forces in December 2024.
The SSPC military column consists of around 500 junta troops and members of the Pyusawhtee (SSPC-Pro- militia). After arriving in Laung She with 17 military vehicles, the troops continued advancing toward Kanpetlet as part of a broader ground offensive.
As SSPC forces move closer to Kanpetlet township, tensions between the military and local resistance groups have continued to escalate. Revolutionary groups have urged residents to remain vigilant, warning that heavy clashes could erupt at any time. – Reporting by Ben
