13 May 2026 – The People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Saw township issued an emergency warning to civilians as State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) forces launched a major military operation toward the Kyaukhtu–Saw area, Magway Region today.
According to the statement, around 1,000 SSPC troops, supported by airstrikes and heavy military force, have been advancing into Saw township as part of a reported “100-Day Plan” operation.
The PDF warned civilians living along the Laung Shey–Saw road and the Tapyin–Kyauk Htu road to remain alert and stay in safe locations. Residents were also advised to avoid unnecessary travel due to the ongoing military activities.
The group further urged civilians to take shelter in bunkers or safe places immediately if aircraft are heard, amid concerns over possible air attacks.
The PDF stated that further updates would be released if the military situation changes. – Reporting by Ben
