15 April 2026 — Amid ongoing conflict and a humanitarian crisis, the Chinland administration demonstrated a commitment to governance and institutional building by hosting a strategic meeting and opening a new medical school.
On 14 April 2026, representatives from the Chinland Council, Government, and Parliament met with Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe of the National Unity Government (NUG) Prime Minister’s Office in Chinlung city, Thantlang township, Chin State.
The officials discussed cooperation and coordination between the Chinland administration and the NUG, as well as respective governance and operational matters. This meeting takes place as the region faces intensifying offensives and frequent junta airstrikes, underscoring the efforts of these parallel governments to establish functional civil administration despite the fighting.
The Chinland Government’s Ministry of Health officially opened the Chinland Jordan School of Medicine. Senior officials from the Chinland Council, Government, and Parliament, along with Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, attended the ceremony. The event, which included speeches and the provision of financial support, marked a welcome ceremony for the institution’s first intake of medical students.
The establishment of this medical school is particularly significant given the current environment, which has seen critical events like civilian detentions and reports of escalating violence across the state.
Serving as the National Unity Government (NUG) Health Minister, Dr. Zaw Wai Soe is a prominent figure in the government-in-exile that stands against the military junta. As a primary architect of the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), he has frequently traveled to resistance-held and liberated territories, with this trip marking his inaugural official visit to Chin State. – Reporting by Daniel
