27 April 2026 — The military of the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) has launched a massive operation to seize the strategic Falam-Hakha Road in Chin State.
Joint Chin resistance forces, including the Chin Brotherhood and the Chin National Army (CNA), are engaged in fierce fighting with SSPC troops around Lungpi hill and along the Lungpi-Lungrang-Rialti corridor.
The offensive, which is reportedly coordinated from the Kalay regional command and involves an estimated 1,500 troops, aims to reestablish complete control over northern Chin State by May. Units from Hakha, including LIB 266, are attempting to converge with advancing columns from Falam town to secure the vital route.
The SSPC is pushing ahead despite mounting losses and logistical challenges, driven by concerns that Chin State is on the verge of becoming a ‘liberated area’. For over six months, the military has been cut off from overland supplies, forcing it to rely entirely on costly air transport for essentials like food and ammunition. – Reporting by Daniel
