6 March 2026 — The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) carried out airstrikes on Falam town and Lumbang village in Falam township, Chin State yesterday.

According to local sources, a military jet dropped two bombs on two locations in Falam town at around 1:15 pm, damaging two to three residential houses. No civilian casualties were reported.

On the same day at approximately 3:15 am, a jet fighter believed to have departed from Tada-U Air Base carried out an airstrike on Lumbang village, located about 25 miles from Falam town. Two bombs were reportedly dropped during the attack. Local sources said one house was burned down, while another house sustained heavy damage after shrapnel struck the roof.

An initial report from the Surbung times quoted a resident as saying: “Just after 3 am, a jet fighter dropped two bombs on the village. One house caught fire, and another was damaged when shrapnel hit the roof. People woke up in fear and ran to safety in the dark.”

Most residents had already fled the village due to the ongoing conflict, which likely prevented civilian casualties.

Lumbang village has faced repeated air attacks in recent weeks. On 1 March, military aircraft bombed the village and damaged several civilian houses. Earlier, on 19 February, another airstrike injured one civilian and damaged multiple homes.

Lumbang village lies along the Kalay–Falam route, which has been used by military columns advancing toward Falam. The Myanmar military has been attempting to retake Falam town for more than four months, while Chin resistance forces continue to resist the offensive.

Ongoing fighting and repeated airstrikes have forced more than 5,000 residents from around 13 villages in Falam township alone to flee their homes and seek shelter in nearby forests and mountainous areas. Local sources said displaced communities are facing shortages of food and medical supplies. – Reporting by Ben
