27 October 2025 – The Myanmar military junta conducted an airstrike on Mindat town, Chin State, yesterday at approximately 2:18 pm, utilizing jet fighters.
Residents reported that the airstrike targeted the former main police station in the town center, with two bombing runs causing damage to the building. The full extent of casualties and destruction remains unconfirmed.
A local woman informed Zalen, “We heard that they bombed the old police station in the town center. People said the buildings were destroyed, but we haven’t heard of any other casualties or damage.”
This incident follows a series of junta airstrikes in Mindat township this month. On 8 October, two schools were bombed, resulting in the deaths of four civilians. On 4 October, a hotel in Mindat town was bombed, injuring three civilians and damaging several nearby buildings.
Just two days prior to yesterday’s attack, on 24 October, the junta carried out another airstrike in neighboring Kanpetlet town during a wedding ceremony, killing four people and injuring at least fifteen others.
Throughout October, the junta has escalated airstrikes across Kanpetlet, Mindat, Matupi, Hakha, and Thantlang townships. Chin defense forces have issued a public warning, urging residents to remain vigilant against further air raids and to avoid large gatherings. – Reporting by Benjamin
