The First Global Zomi Community Formed

The Zomi diaspora around the world formed for the first time a global coalition called Leitungbup Zomi Innkuan Kipawlna, literally meaning ‘Zomi community international’, on 28 March 2009. The move came to a conclusion after a 4-hour discussion was made via a teleconference hosted by Zomi Innkuan USA.

Resistance Day Commemorated In London

About 70 people last Friday braved cold and windy weather to commemorate the Resistance Day in front of Burmese Embassy in London. The event, organised by Burma Democratic Concern (BDC), called for rejecting the regime’s planned 2010 election and for working toward the realisation of 1990 election result.

ZTC Held 49th Graduation In Falam

The Zomi Theological College (ZTC) held its 49th Graduation Ceremony on 14 March, 2009 at Falam Baptist Church where a total of 31 students were presented Biblical degrees of Bachelor of Theology (B.Th), Master of Divinity (M.Div) and Bachelor of Religious Education (B.R.E).

Number of High School Students Decreases In Chin State

A total of 8,897 high school students comprising 70 per cent of day schools and 25 per cent of boarding schools got registered this year in Chin State to take matriculation exam, which kicked off today at 23 examination centres, according to Chin State Education Department.

Chin Flood Victims Still Struggling In Malaysia

About 300 Chin refugees in Malaysia are still left ‘destitute’ after their houses in Jalan Kolam Air, Jalan Ipoh were immersed in flood waters on Tuesday. All their belongings including food and clothes were swept away but no casualty has been reported.
