One Died, Four Seriously Injured In Tedim Car Accident

08 March 2011: A passenger jeep plunged into a ravine near Laitui village in Tedim Township of northern Chin State yesterday, leaving one passenger dead and four others seriously injured.

The accident occurred around 5pm when the jeep reportedly carrying only passengers was ascending a steep hill between Laitui village and Tio river near the Indian-Burma border.

Pu Con Lung, 60, of Falam Chin from Taungzalat Block in Kalay Myo, died on the spot and seriouly injured four passengers including Mrs. Con Lung are said to have been  treated at Tedim General Hospital.

A relative of Pu Con Lung was quoted as saying that the dead body was taken straight away to Kalay Myo, and the injured to the General Hospital in Tedim Town over night.

Details of how the accident happened have not been known yet although some claimed that the jeep had trouble going up the road and moved back tumbling about 100 ft downhill.

As of this morning, authorities were said of having arrived at the scene and the vehicle belonging to a Kalay Myo resident, Pu Thang Khen Tuang, was not removed due to the ongoing investigation.
