7 July 2026 — A Khumi woman was killed and five civilians, including two three-year-old children, were injured after the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military carried out airstrikes on villages in Buthidaung township, Rakhine State.

According to local sources, there was no fighting in the area when SSPC fighter jets and a Y-12 bomber aircraft dropped around 50 bombs on villages sheltering civilians and internally displaced persons (IDPs) on the afternoon of 3 July.

The victim, Ms. Yaw Tha May, originally from Taragu village, was killed by bomb fragments while staying in Wa Net Yone village. The injured were identified as Mr. Nay Zaw Lin (aged 3), Mr. Aung Aung Naing (aged 3), Ms. Sandar May (aged 18), Mr. Maung Hla Kyaw (aged 23), and Mr. Kyaw Tha (aged 46), from Taragu and Sin Phyu Taung villages.

Local sources said the injured are receiving emergency medical treatment. The SSPC military has continued conducting daily airstrikes on Buthidaung township and other areas under the control of the Arakan Army (ULA/AA), despite no reported fighting in the targeted villages. – Reporting by Ben
